Over more than forty years, Lancaster Singers has grown to a 70 strong mixed-voice choir.
What unites us is a love of music and performance and the pursuit of musical excellence.
All of us have had a short, informal audition and although some musical literacy is required we believe the variety of our musical backgrounds adds to the diversity and flexibility of the group. We perform works from the Renaissance to the present day, including new commissions.
Over the years we have included most of the great choral masterpieces. We perform as an ‘a capella’ group through to large scale works with orchestra. We give five or six concerts a year, which are held in a variety of venues ranging from large concert halls, where we perform with professional orchestras and soloists to tiny village churches.
We usually meet for practices on Tuesdays during the academic terms at the Lancaster University Chaplaincy Centre at 7.30-9.30pm (practice pictured right).
